Zero-padded figures above cards or list items whose order has no meaning.

Why it happens

Numbered sections are a staple of the editorial templates that dominate training data. The model reproduces the visual rhythm without checking whether the content is sequential.

The rule

Number only true sequences. Parallel items take no marker or a short category label.

1. Ask whether reordering the items would change their meaning. If not, drop the numbers.
2. Keep numbers for steps, phases, tiers and rankings only.
3. If a marker is needed on parallel items, use a small category or icon instead.

What is a Numbered Marker Abuse?

Zero-padded numbers above feature cards are a strong visual signature — and they only make sense when the sequence is real: steps, phases, ranked items, a process. On three parallel features, "01 02 03" implies an order that does not exist and quietly tells the reader to read left to right instead of choosing. Keep the numbers for sequences; use nothing, or a short label, for parallel items.
