Gradient

A gradient is a smooth transition between two or more colors, used in UI to add depth, motion or brand personality to surfaces and controls.

A color transition — linear, radial or mesh — used to add depth, motion or brand personality to surfaces, buttons and backgrounds. Subtle two-stop gradients read as polished; multi-hue rainbow blends quickly look dated and hurt text contrast.
