Hover State
A hover state is the styling shown while a pointer rests over an interactive element; touch devices have no hover, so it must never be the only affordance.
The styling applied while a cursor rests over an interactive element — a lift, a darken, an underline. Hover states confirm clickability, but they do not exist on touch screens, so never hide functionality behind hover alone. Keep transitions under 200ms.
